Chris,
I do not find Lewis Herring in the 1850 census for Allen co. Or at least not in German Twsp. Where is he? There is a Jane Herring age 75 from MD living with Jacob Sawmiller and wife Mary. I also find another John Herring and wife, Catherine, Manuel Herring and wife, Juliana, Henry Herring and wife, Nancy and Philip Herring and wife Margaret.
I have heard that there is a good size history on Philip's family at the library in Lima.
It appears that the family came from PA to Fairfield co, OH and finally to Allen co. What info do you have?

Darrel
