Revolutionary War - John Sr.

I believe that I read here some time ago that John Ogletree, Sr. did not serve in the Revolutionary War, but that he provided financial support, etc. and that because of this record, his descendants are eligible for DAR.

I have been looking at the military info available now on Ancestry and wonder if anyone can tell me where to find the documentation on John's connection to the Revolutionary War.
