Well, that's interesting. One more thing to make the tangled web of this family a little more tangled.Since Mary knew her brother was named James, that helps a bit.I already knew James was related to Richard in some way, just wasn't sure precisely how, but that places him as Richard's oldest son by his first marriage.
Mary didn't go live with James, however.Adding your information to mine, I can account for her on every census from 1840-1910.This is reasonable, since she was born in 1837 and died in 1912.
1840, she would be one of the females in Richard C. Oglesby's household in Gibson County, Tennessee
1850, she was listed by name in Richard C. Oglesby's household in Shelby County, Tennessee
1860, she is the Mary J. Ellis, wife of William W. Ellis in Quitman, Conway County, Arkansas
1870, she is in exactly the same place, same family
1880, she is Mary E. Moor in the household of Franklin C. Moor in Benton Township, Faulkner County, Arkansas (part of Conway County became Faulkner)
1900, she is Mary E. Moore in the household of Franklin C. Moore in the same place
1910, she is Mary Moore in the household of her son Oscar B. Moore in the same place
Her headstone says:
Mary Oglesby E. Moore
Birth: May 27, 1838
Death: Dec. 30, 1912
She was buried in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Quitman, Faulkner County, Arkansas.
I'm not certain why her birthdate is different on her headstone from what's listed in census records, and I don't know which is correct.

William W. Ellis was not directly related to the Oglesby family. He was related by marriage.
Samuel Jesse Ellis, who later went by Samuel Jesse Bass, was related in some way to William W. Ellis. He was probably William's nephew, but I can't figure out who his father was.Jesse married Lucy Sophronia D. E. Oglesby.
---
The Hale family was related by marriage to the Oglesby family.William Cage Hale and William W. Ellis moved to Arkansas about the same time and the same area.William Cage Hale's sister, Rachel Amanda Hale, married Richardson Bass, son of Jones Bass and Kizziah Rowland.Richardson's brother Reddick married a Manerva Ellis (unsure of her relation to the other Ellis families). His sister Elizabeth Bass married Elijah Gibson, and their daughter Martha Jane married James H. Parrot, son of John H. Parrot (second husband of my Sibbey, mother of Jesse Ellis).Richardson's brother Solomon Franklin Bass married Sarah Neal Varnal, sister to Louisa A. Varnal (who married William W. Ellis).Solomon Franklin Bass & Sarah Neal Varnal's daughter Louisa A. Bass married James M. E. Hale, son of John Beasman Hale and Sarah Ann Madry.John Beasman Hale was William Cage Hale's first cousin.
It's all a horribly tangled mess. There's even more connections throughout the families. It's not a family tree...it's a bush that intersects in all sorts of directions.
Hugs,
Shanna
