I have traced the father of John Thomas Ogg;JOHN OGG; to the Natchez District as may be traced through GOOGLE SCHOLAR. He was listed as a young man who got into s dispute over a fort in the Natchez District and ended up fleeing through "Indian territory" for some three months to arrive in the relative safety of Georgia. This is where John Thomas Ogg was born in 1804 before migrating to Texas.
John Ogg, father of John Thomas Ogg, appears to have perished in Georgia due to unknown causes and John Thomas Ogg and his sister were made the wards of a family by the name of Humphries.
John Thomas Ogg moved to Texas where he changed his name to Thomas Ogg.
The two sons of John Thomas Ogg are John Ogg of Waller County, buried in Field Store Cemetery and James Ogg of Montgomery County buried in a cemetery in Montgomery County. James Ogg's grave is covered with a Cherokee wood carving.
Currently researching the father of John Ogg who is believed to have arrived in the Natchez District after traveling down the Mississippi River from the Ohio Valley area.
