Any background information on "Ogg"

Andrea,
I'm a Michigan Ogg.Our family originated in Drumoak Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.I have the Ogg's traced back to the mid 1700's.When our family emigrated from Scotland, there was another relative on the same ship who was going around the horn with the eventual destination of California. We have had no contact from that branch of the family.I am related to all the Ogg's around the Gladwin Co., MI area and most of the Ogg's around Strathroy, Ontario.
There is another Ogg family around the Detroit area.About 20 years ago I had correspondence with William Ogg who said his family also came from the Aberdeen area.If I recall correctly his envelope had a return address of William Ogg & Son's Construction.
There are also Ogg's in Ohio who are slowly coming across the border. One of their Ogg's is currently a state senator in Ohio.
Og is the gaelic word for "the younger", much as we would use Jr. after one of our names. As such we cannot all trace our family name back to one individual. There is an Ogg mailing list at
Which Ogg families are you related to.
Elvin Ogg.
Sault Ste Marie, MI
