John bought property Bradley Plain, Hampshire, England, 18 Oct 1639. He emigrated, aft 18 Oct 1639. Point of origin: pt of origin unknown. "He had acquired property, and prior to his emigration to the New World, conveyed Oct. 18, 1639, to Ezekiel Howard, also of Bradley Plain, a garden, an orchard, four acres of pasture, and two acres of woodland, with appurtenances.

JOHN immigrated, bef 17 Apr 1640. Destination: destination unknown. The name of the vessel in which John Ogden, the Pilgrim, and his fellow emigrants sailed is not known, but the vessel probably landed at Southampton, on the sourthern shore of Long Island, early in 1640. The first mention of John Ogden's name is in connection with his taking up residence at this place, and being one to whom was granted, Apr. 17, 1640, the tract known as Shinnecock Hill, which adjoined Southampton on the west. He was a leader among the settlers in founding the town.

At 33 years of age JOHN became the father of JOSEPH OGDEN in Stamford, CT or LI, NY, 9 Nov 1642?. At 34 years of age JOHN became the father of Mary Ogden in Stamford, Fairfield, Connecticut, USA, 1644. He bought property in Hempstead, Nassau, New York, USA, 1 Nov 1644. He bought property in North Sea, Suffolk, New York, USA, 3 Sep 1650. At 44 years of age JOHN became the father of Benjamin Ogden 1654. He moved 1665 in Elizabethtown, Essex, New Jersey, USA. He took an oath of allegiance in Elizabethtown, Essex, New Jersey, USA, 19 Feb 1666 ns. He took an oath of allegiance in Elizabethtown, Essex, New Jersey, USA, 11 Sep 1673. He made a will in Elizabethtown, Essex, New Jersey, USA, 21 Dec 1681. William Ogden Wheeler has written extensively on the Ogdens, and in particular, on John the Pilgrim.
