Hi Shelley, thanks for replying to my message. I don't consider myself an expert on the Ogden family by any stretch of the imagination. The information which I have on this family line has come primarily from an excellent book on Peter Skene Ogden, "Peter Skene Ogden and the Hudson's Bay Company" by Gloria Griffin Cline. She includes a genealogy chart for Peter which goes back to 1609 and also includes Peter Skene Ogden's children and some grandchildren are mentioned. The book includes a couple of pictures of Peter Skene Ogden. It is quite probable that you are descended from his son, Peter Ogden (1817-70 born of a Cree woman in Edmonton - Forte des Prairies - I believe her name was Marie Comtois), who married Phrisine Brabbant. Or possibly from his son Peter Skene Ogden II (1844-70). Both of these men lived in B.C. Peter became Chief Trader in the HBC in 1854 and directed company affairs from Stuart Lake, B.C. His son Peter Skene Ogden II was the clerk in charge of the HBC post at Fraser Lake. Peter II died in an influenza epidemic Oct 3, 1870 and six days later his father Peter Ogden died of the same virus. I am descended from Cecelia Ogden who married Hugh Fraser. Cecelia Ogden was the d/o Peter Ogden and Julia Rivet. Their other children were Charles (1819-80), Michael (b. 1824), Sarah Julia (1826-92) m. Archibald McKinlay, David (b.1828), Euretta (1836-61), and Isaac (1839-69)m. Anne Manson. I know from this book that they spent most of their time in the BC/Oregon area as Peter Skene Ogden did an incredible amount of work for the HBC in this area. I would highly recommend you read this book if you are at all able to lay hands on it. Sorry, I just reread your note and realized that your gr-grandfather was born in Ontario. It is therefore possible/likely that your family is descended from a brother of Peter Skene Ogden. His siblings were David, Henry, Isaac, Harriet, and Charles - children of Judge Isaac Ogden and Sarah Hanson. Isaac had three older daughters, Mary, Catharine and Sarah who were his daughters with Mary Browne. Isaac was sent to Quebec in 1788 and then to Montreal in 1794. That is pretty much the extent of the information I have on this part of the family. I have some of the children's ages at the time of their immigration to Quebec, if that will help. Hope you find what you are looking for. Mark
