Hi Emily,
Thomas & Susannah(Ogan) Cottrell were in Michigan not Missouri.
Can you tell me who Susannah`s parents were and sibs?
I think the DNA project that you are doing is very interesting but isn`t it done on male members only? and the ones still carrying the OGAN name?
My line is through Thomas & Susannah`s daughter Mahalia Cottrell b 1844 in VanBuren Co. Michigan. Mahalia married Robert Shidler in 1865.
It looks like Mahalia was only about 6 yrs old when her mother Susanah died. I`m going to write for Susannah`s death record and hope it tells what she died from.
Susannah must have died shortly after the 1850 census.
Looks like Thomas needed a wife ....He married Elizabeth Darrah who was a widow and they had 6 children together.
Also there was a Fanny OGAN who married Lemuel Cottrell and do you know if she was Susannah`s sister?
