Thomas Ogan was born about 1741 according to his 1813 petition for a pension based on his service during the Revolutionary War. Here in a series of letters, certificates, and afadavits, of which I have copies of the handwritten originals, he claims that in 1813 he was 72 years old and his aged wife 75, and no longer able to support themselves. The petition was filed while he was still living on Rockingham Co., VA. I seriously doubt he was born there. He joined the Revolution in Frederick Co., VA Dec 1776. Rockingham did not become a county until it was formed from part of Augusta in 1778.
