I am researching my Underwood line. Mildred (Rucker) & George Underwood would be my gggg grandparents. Here is some information from the book "THE UNDERWOOD FAMILY, from MADISON COUNTY, VIRGINIA" by Ben H. Coke. The book can be purchased through McDowell Publications, 11129 Pleasant Ridge Rd., Utica, KY 42376. Or by phone (275) 275-4075. Currently the book is 1/2 price. It has information on the Rucker and Offill families.

Joshua Jackson died around 1797 while moving from Sullivan county, TN to Franklin Co, KY; married Elizabeth Offill. Children are given in Franklin Co. KY circuit suit "Macey vs. Jackson', bundle 59. Children of Joshua d.1797 include:
1) Joshua Jackson m. 1795 Woodford Co. KY to Margaret Underwood
2) Margaret Jackson m. 1790 Woodford Co. KY to James Renfrow Jr
3) Mary (Merreniah) Jackson m. James Underwood d.1824
4) Tabitha Jackson m. 1st Jonathan Underwood d.1804
Other children of Joshua dc1797 include William, Joel, Elzathon, Drury Jackson.

The three Underwoods mention above (James, Margaret, & Jonathan) are children of Jonathan Underwood c173x-17xx & Margaret "Peggy" Offill. I decend from this Jonathan's brother, George, who was married to Mildred Rucker.
