Posted by Katheen Akin on Wed, 13 Oct 1999, in response to MARONEY/OFFICER Georgia> 1840>1830 Census lookup Please, posted by William Maroney on Fri, 30 Jul 1999

Surname: Maroney, Officer

Samuel Maroney was in Murray Co., GA, p. 270, in the 1840 Unknown Co., GA:
Samuel Maroney was in Murray Co., GA, p. 270, in the 1840
Georgia Census (Automated Archives CD-ROM #152, U.S. Census Index 1840-1849, Southern States)

The only Officer names listed in the 1840 census index (same as above) were Alexander Officer, Murray Co., GA , p. 265 and J.B. Officer, Murray Co., GA, p. 271.

Murray Co., GA is on the Georgia-Tennessee line.

In Georgia during this time, a marriage was usually held in the county that the woman lived in.

Hope this helps,
Kathleen AKin
