Robert, I would say your Oehlke/Oelke's probably lived in Pommern, Germany. After WWII, most of Pommern was given to Poland. The Germany people had to then leave their home&possessions & take what they could carry & go back to Germany.I believe this is where Poland comes into the picture. My husband, brother & myself went to Stettin(Szczecin) & Isinger,Pyritz,Germany(now Nieborowo,Poland)where our Great Grandfather, Wilhelm Oehlke immigrated from in 1884. The Village of Isinger was still there, with original Church built in early 1500's, still being used. I have always wondered if the Oelke/Oehlkes in MI, & WI were related to our Southern Oehlkes???
