I'm wondering if anyone is working on the line of a Theophilus Odom/Odum who died in 1811 in Nash Co., NC. He and another Theophilus of the same name are on the 1800 census in Nash Co. The older man is 45 and older, and is probably the man who died in 1811. Theophilus Odom/Odum left a widow Dinah, who relinquished administration of his estate to William Lindsey. She, William Lindsey, Abraham Odom, and Wilson Batchelor were the primary buyers at the estate sale. Wilson Batchelor married Alcie Odom, b. abt. 1790. Around 1818, this couple moved to Maury Co., TN. By 1830, they are in McNairy Co., TN, and appear in the records of both Hardin and McNairy Co. until their deaths. They lived near the southeaster border of McNairy and the southwestern border of Hardin Co. The Nash Co. Odoms/Odums may have ties to Sampson and Northampton Co., NC, and possibly to Bertie Co. I think that before that they may have been in Nansemond Co., VA. There are other Odoms who came early to McNairy Co. Wilson and Alcie Odom Batchelor named their first son Moses, a name that does not run through the Batchelor lines, but is found in the Odoms/Odums of northeastern NC and southeastern VA. Would appreciate any information anyone can give me on these families, and will gladly share information. Notify Administrator about this message?
