This may confuse you rather than help, but here it is, Andrew O'Dowd of Derry (I think) married a Mary Mullaney they had a son David (1807) who emmigrated to Australia with his wife Hanna and son Andrew on the "Thetis" in 1842.I have the almost complete family tree from there if you are interested, I would be interested to find out if John is a relative of Andrew.
