Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
Thank you for posting this obituary. Do you have a date for it, or the name of the newspaper? Without dates, it's hard to say, but this Levi N. Odom could very well be Emma's brother of that name. The 1880 census for Darlington County, South Carolina, shows John B. (perhaps for Benjamin) Odom and his wife Maggie E. with three children: "Levy" (age 4), Emma (2), and Susan (1). So this Levi was born about 1876, and if he died at age 86, that means about 1962.
John B. Odom was the son of Levi Odom (1810-?), son of Thomas Odom (1780-1862), son of Jacob Odom Sr (c1740-1831). That's as far back as I've taken it. Jacob Odom Sr moved to Darlington from Wayne County, North Carolina.
