William Odom, 1777
I am looking for any sort of documentation that William Odom, b. 1777, who married Jane Turner is the son of ? Odom and Honor Jones (and stepson of Richard Odom). So far, all I have come across is the mention of a William Odom in the will of Richard of Anson County, as the son of Honor and her first husband...and the fact that William, born in 1777 had a daughter named Honor. There is at least one other Honor Odom, daughter of John Pinckney Odom of Louisiana, who does not appear to be descended from Honor Jones...so I guess I am questioning whether or not the evidence that William is Honor Jone's son comes solely from the fact that he had a daughter named Honor, and Honor Jones had a son named William.
I am hesitant to enter Honor Jones as the mother of William into my database without more concrete evidence (and stepfather Richard also). If you have some documentation, I'd love to have it.Are there land transactions indicating that William was from Anson County, or does his marriage record indicate who his parents were?
I know that William also had a son named James, and that several people claim that William's father was named James, because there is supposedly a reference to William's brother as "James Jr." in the will of Richard Odom of Anson.Has anyone seen and transcribed this will and can verify that it says "James Jr."?The only transcription I have seen is Helen Odum Harrell's, in her book, which shows son "James" (no jr.)
