I am familiar with many of the Odums who were first settlers in southern Illinois. I am descended from Dempsey Odum who came there about 1815 from TN . While those names you list don't ring any bells, you are probably kin to us. The Odoms/Odums came from Tennessee after the war of 1812 to southern ,IL ,settling first around Marion and then in Franklin county where the city of Benton is located. The Odums first came to US in 1650 ,probably from Barbados and were originally in Northern Ireland. The first Odom/Odum was William Odom in Nansemond County,VA and they then moved across the swamps to Chowan and Northampton Co, NC then to other parts -my family went to Tenn.then to southern Il and I believe all the southern Il Odums are from that group.you might check the censuses for Franklin and Williamson Counties,IL in the 19th century for your grandfather/great grandfather.
