My son-in-law's Odland family also comes from the Aadland/Odland farm near Tysvaer that your great-grandfather came from.

Erik Halvorsen Odland (b-Sep/Oct 1781 Odland (farm), Tysvaer; d-1850 Bukneburg (farm), Halsne Island). He married Malene Jacobsdtr Eike about 1816 in Ryfylke. They had 11 known children, one of whom, Halvor, emigrated to Meckling Twp, Clay Co, SD. Halvor married a woman from Gombedahlen (farm) near Tysvaer.

Erik was a disabled Norwegian Navy non-comm who returned to his farm to teach after the Battle of the Strait of Store.
