Connie,

Thank you for your response but I got lost somewhere. What is the name of the first Odell you can prove as an ancestor?

When did your Odell's move to Michigan?

The Michigan State Census for 1837 shows Nathaniel and his brother Isaac as living in Comstock Twp of Kalamazoo Co. Isaac is shown in Kalamzoo Co in 1860, 1870 and 1880. However the 1880 Census shows his father's birthplace is Ireland and his mother's is England, while Nathaniel has New York for both so this raises another question.

I happened to call the wrong county and they had his probate docs. He had no will. He died in Cass Co, Iowa but was probated in Montgomery Co. He was buried in Pottawatamie Co. all within 10 miles or so of Elliot Iowa. Orville was the executor. Elisha had already moved to Minnesota. Yes, all of the children except Orville were born in Michigan. Elisha was married in Delaware Co IA. I do not know where the others were married but I think it was probably Iowa too.

Have you ever considered DNA testing? It would required a man with the Odell surname. My brother just had it done.

Carol
