Catherine, The townland where Patrick O'Dea lived is Creggaun. It's almost certain Patrick was a son of John O'Dea, whose house (#10a) and land in that townland is shown on Griffith's Valuation of County Clare, Ennis Union, September 1855, page 48. John O'Dea and five other families (Burke, McNamara and three Nihils) held a shared lease of 44 acres in Creggaun and another 58 acres in neighboring Gorteen. In all, John O'Dea farmed about 30 acres, for which he was assessed about £16. Contact me if you would like full details from the Clan's database of O'Deas in Griffith's.
