Maurice O'Connor, 1832, St. Anicet, Quebec, Canada
Would you have any additional information on the ancestry of Maurice O'Connor of Tralee, Ireland?
Our family historian in Huntingdon, Quebec, Canada writes:
Maurice O'Connor, his wife Mary Lynch, and their 3 children arrive in St Anicet in 1832.Maurice probably came over with his brother James. We have records of a Maurice and James O'Connor being born in Tralee on the SW coast of Ireland.
Maurice, James and their families settled on land near the corner of the Leahy and Smellie side roads.
Maurice's son Michael married Catherine Savage in St Anicet in 1843.Michael died in 1864, after siring 14 children.Eventually the family moved up unto the Ridge road, near the corner of the headline road (North side).Catherine died in in the late 1890's.She is listed on the 1870 census as a "female farmer".
Maurice's brother James settled on the farm, just west of Michael and Catherine, probably in the stone house that is next to to the house we called Ralph's (todays's Ranch à Billy).
Michael's son Joseph married Helen O'Hare in 1882, and had 15 children.
