William Edward/Michael-Civil War/South
I know so little which probably makes this a lost cause...BUT I am trying to find out more about my Irish ancestors.
My grandmother's name was Madge Connor (Capps). She was born in Comanche Co, Coleman, Tx, in the early 1900's. She married Walter Marion Capps & they had 2 children, Glenn & Dorothy. She used to tell me about an ancestor, William Edward O'Connor, (or the O might have been dropped by then; not sure) who was a surgeon for the Confederacy during the Civil War.He had a (I believe younger) brother named Michael, who also fought for the Confederacy and I believe was in the Cavalry.Michael was taken prisoner probably at the Battle of Vickburg (I've seen his name & where he was issued new stirrups & 1 boot on a ledger in the museum there) & died of dysentary in a POW camp in the North.
Before she died my grandmother was in contact with relatives in Ireland, who would write to her from time to time.I'd like to find them as well.I realize this is a long shot, but if any of this sounds familiar, please respond.
