Basil O'Connell, born 1900

Hello,

I am just beginning my family tree and my starting point is a letter which my uncle received from a Mr Basil O'Connell (born 1900)in 1968.

In the letter he said he was researching the desendants of "Sheara na moe mor Connell, your ancestor who died in...Caherciveen in 1722". He asked my uncle for information about our current family to complete one branch of his researches and said he would send on "more record of your Cowperthwaite, Fitzmaurice, Eagar and O'Connell forebears".

However I could find no further letters so I do not know how his researches progressed, nor whether he sent my uncle any more information.

My question is - does anyone know what happened to Basil O'Connell's researches ?(did anything?) Does anyone know of the link between these family names ? (I am particularly interested in how the Cowperthwaite or Cronin family joins up with O'Connell as these were the surnames of my g-grandparents).

Any help would be gratefully received !

Many thanks

Peter
