Hi;
I have Anna Ockerman, born about 1754, place unknown (to me), married to John Helms, b. 1761. I think John may have been a son of Tilman Helms or his brother George, but I can't be certain.
John and Anna were parents of Jacob, of whom I am descended. I believe Jacob was born in North Carolina, so it follows that his parents may also have been.
Jacob was married to Mary Whetstone, believed to have been born in England, (but this may be disputed.)
Jacob and Mary had a son John Helms, who married Barbara Matilda Thornburg, and their son, Robert E. was born in Barren County, KY. Robert was married to Amy Frances Coleman, and their son, Samuel Harvey Helms, born near Bowling Green, KY, March 16, 1881, was my great grandfather. The family migrated to Wise County, TX about 1890-91.
Samuel married Katie Mariah Jones, d/o M. B. Jones and Mary Elizabeth Harris of Decatur, Wise County, Texas. They lived out their lives in Wichita Falls, TX.
