My great grandmother was Augusta Ochs and according to family lore was from Frankfurt am Main. I am not sure of the political divisions of Germany/Prussia at that time. She died in 1902 in Manhattan. Her sister(s) were in the millinery business and came to visit Augusta in the US. Augusta married Joseph Landes. They had three children: Amanda (Molly), Benjamin and Teofila (my grandmother). The interesting fact is that one of my grandmother's sons was called Bernard and there were no Bernards on my grandfather's side. Perhaps there is a relation.
