Ive been told by my mother that Ocain or O'Kane was a French name and it turned into Ocame, a name out on Long Island, my great grandfather was Herbert DeForrest Ocame of Westhampton Beach,Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. Ocame is a very old name of an old long island family. My grandmother went to nursing school in New Haven, Conn. and many of the relatives went across the sound to Connecticut and stayed there. I believe the family originated in Connecticut in Revolutionary War times. Lots of Ocames in Long Island. Nancy
