Charlene:Margaret "Peggy" Pack m. Herrell O'Bryan as noted by Don Bowman.Margaret's parents were George Washington Pack and Elizabeth Brown.I have dates, names of other children, their descendants, etc.I am descended from Herrell and Margaret through their son James Grimmison.
I came across another posting of yours-- I'm not sure which website-- but in it you listed the children of Margaret and Herrell, including a Harrison O'Bryan and James Valentine O'Bryan. As Don notes, the O'Bryans are confusing in this part of Kentucky. But, tracking Herrell and Margaret through census data from 1820 through 1870, as well as through discussions with other O'Bryan "cousins," it would appear that neither Harrison nor James Valentine are sons of Herrell and Margaret. There are two closely related sets of O'Bryans in Johnson and Lawrence County, Kentucky.I'm not sure how they are related, but Herrell and a James O'Bryan come into parts of Floyd County, Kentucky, that later become Lawrence and Johnson counties.Harrison and James Valentine are descended from James Valentine in Johnson County, Kentucky.
Family lore (from several of Herrell's lines of descent) records that Herrell's father was George O'Bryan and that George's mother was Ann or Annie O'Bryan, who came to Virginia from Dublin, Ireland in 1761.I have not been able to find any more information to corroborate or refute this.I do know that Herrell fought in the War of 1812, putting his birthdate at abt 1790, in agreement with census data.
I would be happy to share information with you. Please feel free to e-mail me personally.
