O'Brien of New Haven CT 1900-1920s
I am looking for information on a Timothy and Lillian O'Brien of New Haven New Haven Cnty CT around 1910-1920. They had three boys James, John and William. There are several possible scenarios via family lore:
According to Williams family version he left home at 17 and was disowned by his family. He returned with his wife and children in the early 1940s to be turned away at the door. He did however come to find his brother John who resided in NJ until his death in the early 1990s. William stated his entire life these were his parents, and he referred to a cousin Cathleen Shanley of NY.
In speaking with John O'Briens granddaughter she stated her Grandfather spoke little of his family saying his Father died when the boys were young and his Mother had "issues" so the boys were raised by two women last names unknown, referred to only as Mary and Kate. Kate was a nurse on Ellis Island. According to Johns version the boys grew up on a farm in Rumson Nj.
Williams death notice states Timothy and Lillian as his parents New Haven as his birth place and lists the 3 brothers. I can not find any documentation on William Timothy in all of my searches, the closest I came was a 1920 census from NY however it listed a Michael C and Catharine as parents for him. Anyone? I would appreciate any help anyone can offer.
