A biography of James D. O'Brien is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3, pages 723 & 724.
James D. O'Brien was born, 10 Jun 1885, son of John W. O'Brien, one of Montana's pioneers in the Yellowstone Valley. James grew up on the family farm and in the family store on the highway leading from Glendive to the Missouri river. James worked in the store until the store burned. He became a stock raiser and a small feeder and shipper until emigrant farmers came and he changed from stock grower to farming.
James did not marry.
