My gggfather was Moritz Obrecht b.28 Aug 1824 Baden Germany. He came to America prior to 1859. He married an Irish girl, Alice Dorney somewhere near Cincinnati Ohio. They eventually moved to MO and I found them on the 1870 Grundy Co Mo census, where he is listed as Fredrick Obraght. Most of their children were christened in the St. Columban Catholic Church in Chillocothe MO. The german Obrecht name morphed into a more Irish looking OBrate over the years. However on his tombstone his name is spelled Moritz Obrecht...He died in Enid OK on 11 Sep 1896. He and Alice divorced in the mid-1870's but they each stayed near their children...just not near each other. Would like to locate his family, if anyone has a clue, please email,
