Worcester Telegram & Gazette (MA) - Monday, April 16, 1990

HUBBARDSTON - Arne J. Kataisto, 69, of 26 Worcester Road died yesterday in Henry Heywood Memorial Hospital, Gardner, after a short illness.
He leaves his wife, Eila (Ikonen) Kataisto; five sons, Wayne Kataisto of Westboro, Paul, Mark and Scott Kataisto, all of Hubbardston, and John Kataisto of Jewett City, Conn.; two daughters, Ann Smith and Jane Moschetti, both of Templeton; six grandchildren; aunts and uncles. He was born in Worcester, son of John and Taimi (Mannisto) Kataisto, and lived here most of his life.
He graduated from Gardner High School.
Mr. Kataisto was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving in the Asian-Pacific theater, including the liberation of the Philippines.
He was president of Kataisto Inc. for many years, and was still working at the time of his death. He previously owned and operated his own poultry farm. Before then, he worked at the former Union Foundry in Fitchburg.
Mr. Kataisto was once a lieutenant for many years in the Hubbardston Fire Department. He was a member of the Worcester County League of Firefighters and, the Hubbardston Rod & Gun Club, and a board directors of the United Co-Operative Farmers Society.
Private funeral services will be held in Smith Funeral Home, 69 Vernon Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Rural Glen Cemetery. There are no calling hours. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made instead to the Hubbardston Fire Department Rescue Squad, Route 68, Hubbardston, 01452.
