You leave out some important information which makes it difficult to search for this fellow. First, you don't give an approximate age nor do you mention your great-grandmother's name. Where was she from? You don't say whether you have searched census records - do you have the couple in, for example, the St. Louis, MO census? How long were they married, how many children, what were their names, etc.? What evidence do you have that he was from Oswego and are you referring to the city or the county? James Coleman is a fairly common name so even if you found several obits for such a name during the time frame, how would you even know which one might be your great-grandfather? In my experience it's not likely an ex-wife would be mentioned and often children of such a marriage aren't always named, particularly if he remarried and had another litter. Do you know if this fellow had siblings? Have you found him in earlier census records with his parent(s)? Too many unanswered questions, not enough detail so looking for him based upon the scanty info might not prove very productive. Rick
