Thomas Baines Parker
Thomas Baines Parker Thomas Baines Parker, 84, passed away on April 2, 2004. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Minnie Pearl Parker. Born in 1919 in Oregon, Tommy grew up in the logging industry, and joined the Pile Drivers Union, Local #34 on June 5, 1942. He left pile driving briefly to enlist in the Navy in 1942, and earned a bronze star for his service during the war. After being honorably discharged in 1945, Tommy returned to pile driving where he worked steadily until his retirement in 1979. During his long career, Tommy had the opportunity to work in Venezuela, Arabia, South Korea and the Western United States. Tommy proudly remained a member of the Pile Driver's Union until his death. Tommy will be missed by his many loving friends and neighbors. Services for Tommy will be held 10:00 am, Wednesday, April 7th at the Wilson-Kratzer Funeral Home in Richmond, 455 24th Street. Friends wishing to view the body and to say goodbye may visit on Tuesday, April 6th from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Persons wishing to make gifts in Tommy's memory should direct their donations to the Pile Driver's Union, Local 34, at 55 Hegenberger Place, Oakland, California 94621, attention: Carol.
