Retired Plumber had been ill for past 12 months-Funeral Services will be Monday afternoon.
Charles Cleveland Eissele, past 60 years old, a retired plumber and fitter, died at his home at 306 Hanna street in Columbia City at 6:30 o'clock Friday evening.He had been critically ill since Wednesday and was in a coma for the past 36 hours.Mr.Eissele had been in rapidly decling health for the past 13 months.
He was born on the old Gradless farm in Union township on October 5, 1883 and resided in Columbia City for 58 years, coming to Columbia City with his parents, David and Rebecca Jones Eissele.His father was a native of Wittenberg, Germany, coming to this country at the age of 14 years, and his mother was born in Smith township.
On april 2, 1902, Mr. Eissele was united in marriage to Sarah Jane Loe of Columbia township, who survives.A daughter, Mrs. Keith Hawn, Columbia township, survives.One daughter, Ethel Herendeen, died on May 15, 1942, and another daughter died in infancy.Three grandsons survive.One grandson, Corporal Alfred Hawk, was reared in the Eissele home.
Surviving also are a sister, Mrs. Delphia Borket, Indianapolis; a brother, Frank Eissele, Columbia City; a half sister, Mrs. Dollie Potter, Watervliet, Michigan; and a half brother, Merritt Hoover, Warren.A sister is dead.
The body was taken to the DeMoney Funeral Home, where friends may call and where funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon.Rev. HA Duck, pastor of the Free Methodist church, will conduct the services.Burial will be in the South Park cemetery.
Mr. Eissele was baptised in the United Brethren church.
