Samantha Kramer, Read your message this morning. Watertown, South Dakota is where my great grandfather Leopold Obert settled. Three of his children, my great aunts/uncles lived and are buried there: Conrad, John, and (?). When I was a little kid, we visited our living relatives there. My grandparents names are Martha Obert and Henry Fittje and my full name is Obert Henry Fittje. Henry is a family name that my son has as a middle name. Both my paternal grandfather and great grandfather were named Henry Fittje. That's as far back as I can remember or heard about from my dad. Watertown was/is not a large town so there has to be a connection, esp. given the name Henry Fittje. My grandparents, Henry Fittje and Martha Obert must have met there in Watertown. I have no memories/information about the Kramer's or know of any connection. That doesn't mean, of course, that there isn't one, I just never heard the name in connection with the Fittje's. One mystery I have been trying to get more information on is whether there is a connection between the Fittje's from Germany (northwest Germany near the Dutch border) and the Fitje's from Norway (there is village in northern Norway called Fitje). I have contacted some Fittje's in Germany--northwest Germany. Anyway, with Watertown and the name Henry Fittje, there is no doubt some connection here. Looking forward to hearing from you. Obert Henry Fittje
