I just discovered this forum as I am new to researching my Oberlin lineage and think my ggfather, Charles Oberlin, was the son of Samuel and Mary Oberlin, shown in the 1880 census as follows:

Samuel Oberlin, age 62, parents born in PA
Mary E. Oberlin, age 59, parents born in MD
Charles E. Oberlin, age 25
Samuel H. Oberlin, age 20
Massillon, Stark, Ohio

I have had very little luck finding info on this generation of my Oberlin tree. I believe Charles E. married Emma Donnenwirth in 1889 in Stark, Ohio, and had my grandfather, Frank Oberlin in 1890 (I have his birth certificate). But I have not solidified the connection between Charles and Mary/Samuel. If you have any info on the offspring of Mary Oberlin who was married to Samuel, I would be very interested in learning more.
