In Reply to: O'BANION FAMILY 1850 CHEROKEE, AL CENSUS by Joan O'Banion of 629

Hi, Joan, are you the Joan of Houston, TX who wrote me in 1997 re the descendants of Green Hamilton O'Banion? I am back on the trail of Green, helping a descendant, Guy Russell O'Banion, of Belton, TX, fill in the details of his ancestry. Shall I tell Guy to contact you?

Meanwhile, about this family in the 1850 Cherokee, AL census, I have the huband of Elizabeth being Dunstan B. O'Banion, b.8 Mar 1808 in Madison Co, GA, and 1850 probably in Cherokee Co, AL. I calculate the death date from the fact that Elizabeth in 1850 had no husband listed, so she was either a widow or divorcee, and from the fact their last child, Sampson (not Hampson) was b.1846.

Dunstan was son of Thomas O'Banion (b.26 Mar 1780 prob. in Burke, Co GA to John O'B (1763-aft.1850) s. of Samuel O'B and Elizabeth Kimball. Thomas m.Mildred "Milly" Traylor 25 Jul 1799 in Oglethorpe Co, GA, and had 11 children, Dunstan being the 5th. Thomas d.22 Dec 1841 in Limestone Co, AL.

Milly was b.20 Mar 1782 Caswell Co, NC, d.4 apr 1850 Sunflower Co, MS.

I have more on this family, although I don't see that it connects with Green Hamilton O'B. Shall we re-establish communication?
