Oatman/Bitterton in Indiana?

Looking into wifes' history. She recalls mention of maybe a great-great grandmother on her father's side having a sister maiden surname Bitterton (spelling?) marrying and Oatman. Looking for possible history of this.

Following is family history what I have:

Looking into my wife's family history. If anyone has anything please write.

This is what I have working backwards, mostly rough from family memory:

Terry Lou Crawford, born 7/8/1949 in Glendale, AZ raised in Fish Lake/Laporte, IN area.
Sister: Judith Anne, born 2/7/1951 also in AZ

Father: James Elmer Crawford, born in Chicago?, died 1993 in Knox, IN
-his brothers: Lawrence and half-brother Raymond (different mother)
-his father: Lawrence
-his mother Louise maiden name???
-his grandfather: Lawrence
-one of his grandmothers: first name??? James
-another grandmother/great? first name??? Bitterton

Mother: Joyce Irene Brehm
-sister Lois
-her father: George
-her mother: Adeleine Slicer
-her mother's sisters: Irene, Viola
-her mother's brother: Edward

Verbal family history stories relate one of the Crawford's being a guide with Daniel Boone, and the Crawford name associated with Crawfordsville, IN
Also the Bitterton grandmother listed had a sister who supposedly married an Oatman.
