Are Otts Really Oates?? Need Help

The Otts have been searching for an answer to whether our ancestors are Oates for years with no definitive proof either way. By using DNA results, we hope to find out if our two family trees are connected. If you are a male and are a descendent of Jethro Oates (1728-1780) who married Artesha and resided in Duplin Co., NC, we would sincerely appreciate your consideration of participating in the Otts DNA Project. I will cover the cost of the test by making payment directly to Family Tree DNA.

I would like to add that the DNA test is independently done through Family Tree DNA. A home testing kit is sent to the participant and a simple cheek swab is done and then sent directly back to the lab. The information is owned by the participant and all we ask is that the DNA is compared against the Otts DNA (we have had several Otts tested already) to help us understand whether or not our Michael P Otts of Mecklenburg Co, NC was really Michael Oates who was the son of Jethro Oates.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks!

Stuart Otts
