Avery Carey Oates m. Waid, PA (?) 1842
Posted by: Geoffrey Pope (ID *****3666) Date: June 17, 2003 at 20:04:40
  of 1042

Avery Carey Oates, parentage not known, married Aresta Viola Waid 1822-1891 in 1847, prob. in Crawford Co., PA. Aresta dtr of Warner Waid 1794-1874 and first wife Hannah Skinner.

My line is through Warner's brother, Williams Waid who married Hannah Skinner's sister, Abigail Skinner. The Skinners (and Goulds, as in Abi's and Hannah's mother Phebe Gould) are distinguished families of MA desc from Richard Skinner (Malden) and Zaccheus Gould (Topsfield) respectively.

Williams Waid and Warner are sons of Seth Waid (earlier, WADE) 1764?-1821 and Rest Hathaway b. c. 1766. Any lineal desc of Avery Carey Oates and Aresta Viola Waid should look at WADE Genforum. You may be interested in helping to confirm that Seth Waid b. Middleboro MA was a son of Capt. Amos Wade 1732-1808 b. Bridgewater MA (both are in Plymouth Co.) and first wife Phebe Williams 1740-1755. That Amos/Phebe were Seth's parents is apparently unproved but circumstantially highly likely; it's doubly interesting, as proof of that link would make all of us descs of Thomas Rogers of the Mayflower, several Plantagenet kings, some royal bastards, and 11 barons who signed as sureties at Runnymede when Magna Carta was signed by King John Lackland.
