I found reference to a Joseph Daniel Oates born on jun 30 1851 in New Buffalo, Berrian, Michigan. It sounded like that person you are looking for. I don't have any other information.
I am looking for Joseph D. Oates, born about 1810 -1830 who married Hannah Austin. They had the following children: David, Ellen, Sarah, Joseph, James, and Amelia, all born in Michigan. Hannah eventually married Charles Heaton and had two other children: William and Mary.
I would greatly appreciate any information that is available about any of these people or their ancestors/descendents. Thank you.
