I found a death certificate for John Farrar OATES who died 5 May 1939 in Roanoke Rapids, Halifax County, North Carolina.
According to the record, he was born in Halifax, England and was the son of Samuel J. Oates and Sarah Farrar. His wife was listed as Nellie Holt.
I checked FreeBMD and he appears as John Farrer OATES in the GRO index for Sep 1880 in Halifax.
I am not related to this person - I am just posting the information in case someone is related to this person and wondered what became of him.
