Nancy Ann,
Jethro (son of Joseph) had a brother, James (1724-1766) who married Sarah Clayton (or Fellows?), who is my GGGGGrandfather.
My line is
1) James (1757-1815) married Mary Ann Wyatt (have not connected her to Elizabeth, wife of Joseph)
2) Stephen (1787-1835) married Elizabeth Shipp (1789-1866), who moved to Henry Co., Al after his death.
3) John Charles (1820-1887) who married twice
a) Francis B Morgan who died in 1863 in Fl.
b) Sarah Crawford Christmas (1844-1920)
JC moved back and forth bet AL and FL, until he killed a man in Fl and fled to Tx with Sarah and children and Sarah's brother, John A Christmas. John Christmas was killed in a bar room brawl Dec 13, 1881 in Madison Co., Tx.
John Charles died while plowing a field in Gonzales Co, Tx., Jan 7 1887.
4) Charles Estes (8/1/1878 - 7/23/1961) moved with the rest of the family to west Tx, settling in San Angelo, Tom Green Co. He married Clara Priscilla Robinson (2/19/1879 - 9/24/1969), granddaughter of William "Choctaw Bill" Robinson (a travelling Baptist preacher) and James Lockridge Gossett (who, with his father Elijah, fought at the Battle of San Jacinto for Texas Independence).
5) Charles Lockridge Oates (11/27/1918 - 5/7/1976) my father.
The Oates line is sure interesting...
