Hello. I am John C. Oaks, son of John F. Oaks of Breathitt County. My grandfather was Levi Oaks, and my Great Grandather was Samuel Oaks, also both of which were from Breathitt County. James Oaks was my ancestor ( he was Sam Oaks father....and I believe that would make him the father of Caldwell. I do know that the original James Oaks came here from Ireland and he was married to a Marry Carter. They had been married in Ireland....I do not know how long they lived there or how many generations were Irish. If you want me to do so I can e-mail you the letter that was sent to me describing the family.
