St. Charles (Illinois) Chronicle, Feb. 23, 1933 Obituary Alma Oakes Alma Oakes, 63, wife of Oscar C. Oakes, 1037 South Second St., died at her home Friday morning. Mrs. Oakes had been ailing for the last several years, but her death was caused by influenza with which she had been confined to her bed for the last four weeks. Mrs. Oakes was a life long resident of St. Charles. She came here from Sweden to make her home when young. She is a member of the gold Star Mothers, her son, Wilfred, having been killed in action during the World War. Mrs. Oakes is survived by her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Claudia Bosey and Lillian Oaks, of St. Charls, and Mrs. William White of Aurora; four sons, Eaver of Elgin and Clarence, LeRoy and Arthur Oakes of St. Charles; on grandson, Wilford Oakes of Elgin; one sister, Mrs. Jennie Carlson of Rockford and three brothers, William, Carl and Eaver Larson, All of St. St. Charles. A number of more distant relatives live in Sweden. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the home at 2 o'clock and from the Bethlehem Lutheran church at 2:30 o'clock.
