Re: Nyström-clans in Sweden - general

If Pitholm is supposed to be a place in Sweden, then it is probably quite tiny. Records in Sweden were kept in the parish and not in the tiny places, so it is important to determine the parish name.

I looked on a place name cd called "Svenska Ortnamn 1999" (Swedish place names 1999) and there seems to be a "nature name" called Pitholmen in Piteå landsförsamling (Piteå rural parish, as opposed to the city parish by the same name) in Norbotten county, Sweden.

There certainly could be other places called Pitholm in Sweden that are too tiny to be on a place name cd, so we need more information to have a chance of helping you.

Nyström is not a rare name in Sweden, so to help you, clues are needed. ;-) For example, when were these people born? When did they leave Sweden? (My dad grew up in Canada so I know that the 1911 Canada Census provided a year of leaving Sweden, for example.)

The Emibas CD, made from registrations in the Swedish parish to go to a foreign country (about 75% complete but far less complete after the mid-1890s) lists some Nyströms with the given names you provided who were listed as going to Canada. (Usually the record says America or North America, which is too ambiguous.)

Do birthdates match? (Note that they are not leaving from the same places. Lack of details makes it hard to find people.)

I don't see any hits for an Anton.

Of course, they might be one of the many who were only listed as going to America or North America, or they might be part of the 25% who were not indexed. There are other ways to try to find this family, but not without dates of birth!!!!

I am not related.
