Congratulations! on finding more about Mary. It's entirely possible that the Nye's had land in both PA and MD. We know the Nye's were a prosperous family. Franklin Co PA is directly to the north of Washington and Frederick Cos MD. My Miller family moved the family back and forth between Maryland and Pennsylvania to keep them safe in those uncertain times. I have it that George Nye/Nigh(Sr) may have been born in PA. Can you reconcile this new information to the note in the family Bible about Hagerstown? We also know "Mary Magdalene" was a popular name. (George had a Maria Magdalena born in 1785 who died young, then Mary Magdalena born 1797. This was also common, to give the same name to a second child after the decease of another child.) That's not to say your Mary is this same child, we still have to contend with the fact that she was left out of George's will.... Given the name Alexander McCutchen is on the same 1790 census page as three of the Nye families, I think the possibility that she was born in Franklin Co. is very good.
