I apologize for taking so long to get back to you. I have to admit that I misplaced my little Nye booklet. But, I located it in my computer bag and hopefully the information it contains will make it worth your wait.
The booklet was compiled by Willis R. Nye (16 Apr 1909 - 6 Nov 1997 [SSDI]) in 1965. Of interest to you is the following:

"George, his wife Mary Magdelena and their children were members of St. John Lutheran Church, Hagerstown, Maryland. The church and congregation were German speaking and all church records were written in German. At the time of our visit to the church for studying the church records we were fortunate in having with us our son-in-law James Kuder who speaks German and who translated the German to English.
"The church records show the spelling of the family name as Neu. It is interesting to note the literal translation of the German word Neu to "old" English is Nye.
"Following are some records taken from the church "Record Book of 1793 to 1818"
"George Neu and wife Magdelena had a son Adam born July 25, 1795 - baptised August 6 - sponsers were Jacob Harre (Harry) and wife Marie Elizabeth.
"George Neu and wife M. Magdelena had a daughter M. Magdelena born April 5, 1797 - baptised April 25 - sponsers Conrad Hackmeyer and wife Marie Magdelena."

In his list of the 13 children of George and Mary Magdalena Nye, daughter M. Magdelena is 7th. He writes that the birth dates of 5 of the children could not be found so the listing may not be the in correct order of birth. He does not give any other information for M. Magdelena, 1797. I have spelled the names as they were written.

My husband is a descendant of George's son Adam.
