Thank you so much for your reply. You seem to be so knowlegeable of the area, I felt you were my only hope. I have corresponded with the county historians office before, who were very kind with their replys, but they could not help. I was hoping you might know/search whatever local records are available to see if there is any record of a Starkey or Sutton who died shortly after the birth of the son Wm. S. in 1844. What cemeteries were present during that time (1844-45), and are there any listings of their interments? Are there any wills or probate records that would give a clue to the identity of his mother, or her relationship to the Starkey or Sutton families in the area, i.e. Elisha & Hannah of Naples, William & Phebe of Reading, Thomas & Letitia of Jerusalem, (all Suttons), or John & Catherine Starkey of Reading/Lodi? Was there a Starkey or Sutton (maiden name of course) who lost a spouse shortly before his birth who would possibly have remarr. during the period of 1840 to 1844. Or any reference to the wife of Wm. Folston during that period of time in the local histories or libraries of the town/areas. You mentioned a Mary Ann, is there a source available that gives this name? I don't know what his mothers name was, so I'm trying to find a clue, any clue to her identity. I have a death certif. for the child Wm. S. (who d. in Oregon) that states his mothers maiden name was Starkey, yet family legend says his middle name was Sutton, and several of his children used the Sutton name as their middle name; thus, my dilema. His father Wm. Folston could have marr. anyone from the area or surrounding areas. I know I'm grabing at straws, but it's my only hope. We've been searching for 45 years to solve this enigma. I thought with your knowledge of the area you just might be able to help. You may want to reply to my email at mfolston@ifox.com Thank you so very much. - Margt
