Events this month at the Yates County Genealogical and Historical Society:

       -- - The exhibit at the Underwood House: “Why Collect?”
                     Collections of dolls, thimbles,autographed baseballs,
                     trivets, teddy bears, antique toy firetrucks, postcards,
                     etc. etc. etc.
       ---Bake Sale at Lyons National Bank on Liberty St., Penn Yan;
                     Friday, April 7th, 9am until 2 pm
       ---Crafts for Kids: Making a stenciled treasure box; Wed., April
                     12th, 3:30-4:45 at the Oliver House; advance
                     registration needed; $5 fee
       --- History Luncheon:        “The Pre-Emption Line” by John Marks,
                     curator at the Geneva Historical Society. Wed., April
                     13th, noon at the Antique Inn on Route 54A. $15 fee
                     collected at the restaurant
       ---Genealogy Workshop: “Researching Our Continental European
                      Heritage” Thurs. April 20th; 1 -3 pm at the Oliver
                      House Museum; $2 fee
       ---Paulsen, Baker & Garvey Concert at Penn Yan Academy;
                     Saturday April 29th at 7 pm; Tickets are $10 at the
                     door or $8 in advance. They are sold at Long’s Card &
                     Books on Main Street PY or at our historical society. If
                     you like the folk music of the 1960s and 1970s, you’ll
                     like this group. They have been described as a cross
                     between the Kingston Trio and the Smothers Brothers.

              --Jane’s History Mystery and all our regular features


As always, we have volunteers and paid staff ready to assist researchers using our local history and genealogy files as well as our other resources in the Underwood House. We offer free tours of the Oliver House, our 1852 Italianate residence.

We are here to serve the people who are interested in Yates County history and those who want to research family history in this county.
